front The George is reputedly the favourite watering hole of the famous playwright and author JB Priestley, whose ashes were scattered at the adjacent St. Michael and All Angels Church. He described Hubberholme as the smallest, pleasantest place in the world. A favourite place. More information about the church...

Nestling beneath the rising fells of Langstrothdale, the inn stands in a stunning location overlooking the infant river Wharfe.

This traditional Dales Inn with flagged floors, stone walls and mullioned windows is the last remaining family owned free house in the parish of Buckden, Upper Wharfedale.

Comfortable accommodation, quality home cooked food, well kept cask beers from Black Sheep and other primarily local breweries together with an excellent selection of wines and Malts are on offer in our unique inn.

The George is centrally located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is ideal for touring, cycling or walking being directly on one of the most popular of all the walks - the Dales Way.

Well appointed and very comfortable En-suite Accommodation available in our 6 letting bedrooms. We have four rooms located in the main pub building on the first floor and two more rooms in the coach house. Five rooms are en-suite. One of the coach house rooms is located on the ground floor and is more suitable for those who cannot manage steps easily.

Enjoy the beauty of the Dales and then relax in our Traditional and Historic Dales Country Inn, with excellent food and beer and a warm friendly welcoming atmosphere.

We welcome well behaved dogs in the bar and have one dog friendly letting room.

To all our customers- please be aware that as The George is very small and very popular it is always advisable to book a table if you are hoping to dine with us - especially on evenings. We would also advise that those of you who are walking and planning to have a drink at The George that during core service times and especially on Saturday's and Sunday's we may have to request that you take your drinks outside due to booking and capacity constraints. For large groups it is especially important to give us advance notice of your plans to enjoy some excellent ales and hospitality at The George to ensure that we can do our best to accommodate you. Please be aware however that we have a lovely beer patio which is a real sun trap ( if shining !)  where we are happy to serve food weather permitting.

We are delighted to announce that The George Inn is on the Wharfedale Packhorse Saturday evening bus service taking customers around the Dale with Grassington as the hub. Why not leave your car at home and Come and visit us at The George Inn - we can guarantee a warm welcome. ( please note that it is advisable to book a table in advance if you wish to dine with us ) Full details of the service on
